Not all Hawaiian gods are good.

The shark god, Kamohoalii, was revered by most fishermen because the deity was believed to appear to those lost at sea and guide them to shore.

However, the human better have good intentions when summoning help. A good person will produce a Kalahiki or good shark that will lead the lost boat to land, but a bad person will produce a unihipili or bad shark that will help capsize the boat and devour the fishermen.
