Approximately five times larger than the human brain, the Sperm Whale has the largest brain of any animal ever. Contained within the largest head of any animal alive (a sperm whale’s head can constitute up to one-third of the animal’s entire body), is a brain that is approximately 8,000 cubic centimeters and weight 17 pounds (7.7 kg). A human brain is roughly 1,300 cubic cm and weighs 3 pounds (1.3 kg).
