The smallest shark in the world is the dwarf lantern shark (Etmopterus perryi) which can fit in the palm of an adult’s hand at just 8 inches long (20 cm).

Small size isn’t what makes this shark so Cool, Gross & Weird: it’s the fact that this tiny fish glows in the dark.

Photophores on their belly and fins allow the fish to lure in prey and help hide from predators.
