While it would be difficult to confuse most dolphins for a seal or sea lion, the Northern Right Whale Dolphin is not like other cetaceans – it has no dorsal fin. The lack of a dorsal fin gives the Northern Right Whale Dolphin such an unusual appearance that many first-time observers have confused them for seals or sea lions.
