The only dolphin found in the Southern Ocean is the Hourglass Dolphin. One of the smallest dolphins, the Hourglass Dolphin only grows to 6 feet (1.8 m) in length. With its smaller size and black and white markings, the Hourglass Dolphin is often confused with penguins by first-time observers.
