Known as “elephant sharks” and “bone sharks,” basking sharks are the second-largest fish and shark in the world growing to more than 30 feet (9.1 m) and 4,500 pounds (2,042 kg).

Despite their massive size, basking sharks are one of the few sharks that, like great white sharks, are strong enough to breach (leap) almost completely out of the water.

(Great whites can completely leave the water.)
